Choosing the coffin or casket

What is the difference between a coffin and a casket?

Coffins & caskets are shaped differently. Coffins are tapered at the head and foot, are wide at the shoulders and have a detached top. Caskets are rectangular in shape and are usually constructed of better quality timbers and feature higher standards of workmanship. The top of a casket is hinged.

Pricing of a coffin or casket varies due to the material used in their construction. These materials include:
  • Solid pine or timber
  • Timber veneered custom wood
  • Paper laminate over custom wood
  • Particle board
  • Custom wood
  • Cardboard
  • Gauge steel
  • Brushed bronze
Prices range from: $1,150 - $22,000
